Hi, I am Andy but some know me as "The Professor"... really, I want to be a politician but I will do this until I'm voted in! So here are some basic facts to kick off:

Uganda has about half the number of people as the UK but the same amount of space. Mmmmh, more room to walk about in.

People there live almost 30 years less than in UK on average. Is that 'cos of all that walking? No - stuff like malaria is the real enemy (we'll look at that another time).

Facts about Uganda and what Helping Hands does there invisible banana Sarah walking for water before school

Walking is good for you but when you have to do a lot of it with no food in your stomach it is just hard work (and I like to eat melon and parma ham!)

Sarah has to walk 4km to fetch 10 litres of water before she walks another 5km to get to school. DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY STEPS THAT IS?

Over 18,000 steps in bare feet... email us and let us know how many steps you take beforeyour first lesson at school.
